Five Do’s and Don’t You Should Remember When Pursuing a Personal Injury Claim.

Seeking financial compensation for your injuries and damages following a personal injury accident can be complex. While many people think getting compensation will be easier, the reality is that the process can be time-consuming and challenging for many. Without proper assistance, you may do things that will harm your claim, ruining the chances of getting the compensation you are entitled to.

One of the common misconceptions that people believe is hiring a Boston personal injury attorney will be expensive, and they should seek compensation without consulting an attorney. However, if you are someone with no legal knowledge, it is better to speak to an attorney as they can assist you in the negotiation process. Furthermore, if your case moves to trial, you will need an attorney to represent the case.

Dos and Don’ts of Personal Injury Claim.

Here are a few do’s and don’ts when seeking compensation to ease the process and ensure you get justice.

    Dos

    1. If you get into a car crash, always report it to the police and get a copy of the police report. The police report will contain vital information that will support your claim.
    2. Do seek medical attention after your accident to determine the severity of your injuries and get proper treatment.
    3. Do collect all the possible evidence following your personal injury accident. Whether it is witness testimony, pictures, videos, or anything, you will need evidence against the at-fault party to prove their negligence.
    4. To maintain a personal journal describing your injuries and how it is affecting you emotionally. This will help in seeking compensation for mental pain and suffering.
    5. Always speak to a personal injury lawyer before you speak to an insurance adjuster or anyone from the insurance company.

    Don’ts

    1. Do not run away from the accident scene in case of vehicle accidents. Running away will make the situation worse, and you may be unable to seek compensation.
    2. Do not post anything about your injuries, claim, or compensation amount on social media or talk to anyone about it except your attorney.
    3. Do not give a recorded statement when the insurance company asks for it. Instead, go for a written statement with the assistance of your attorney.
    4. Do not speak to the at-fault party or the insurance company without the presence of your attorney, as everything you say will be used against you.
    5. Do not delay your medical treatment after your injury. If possible, seek medical attention on the same day of your injury.
